Who says that's no way to run a railroad!? This time Brooklyn Rail talks with Bob Holman. The interviewer Monica de la Torre gets him to discuss a completely unfounded assumption about poets:
Rail: What pays the bills at the [Bowery Poetry Club], the bar?

Bob: The hubristic idea was that The Poets Will Drink Enough to Pay for the Bad Habit of Poetry. What I didn’t take into consideration was that instead of pushing another drink, we ask people to Please be quiet and listen to the poem...
