Oh small world of culinary instruction. It turns out Adam is taking the daytime section of our cooking class. It's the same kitchen, same curriculum, same chef. We compared notes last night after the reading, and everything is basically identical right down to the jokes told by the instructor. The only difference is that his class was taught the secret margarita recipe. We agreed on our mutual fascination with gluten, emulsifiers, and other such types of ingredient behavior.

You peoples need a subscription to Cooks Illustrated, too.

I bought some yeast--I'm going to make bread this week, or maybe I'll start with something more basic like pizza dough.

i spent a lot of grad school playing around w/ yeast breads & pizza doughs. it was nice to have the luxury time to watch it rise. i also like the part where you "punch it down."

don't forget to toss cornmeal on the pizza stone!

Yes--I work at home, so I can bake! One of my old hippy boyfriends used to make pizza. Once he dropped it on his dog. By accident.
